Originally known as the Illinois State Penitentiary, these haunted grounds have been known by many names: Joliet Correctional Center, Joliet Prison, Joliet Penitentiary, the Old Joliet Prison, and even the Collins Street Prison. Regardless of the name, from 1858 to 2002, this building was a fully operational correctional facility that provided temporary housing to some of the country’s most infamous names like: Nathan Leopold, Richard Loeb, Baby Face Nelson, Richard Speck, James Earl Ray, John Wayne Gacy, and more! It has influenced countless works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and even music, including “Percy’s Song” by Bob Dylan. Visually, the ominous grounds were featured in many television shows and films including: 1980’s “The Blues Brothers” and the 2005-2006 season of Fox’s “Prison Break.”

In 2021, the masterful minds behind the Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group took possession of a portion of these phantom-filled grounds and unleashed what would manifest as “The Old Joliet Haunted Prison.”

When you arrive, there will be food for purchase from a variety of food truck vendors. Order your food and join your industry friends in the courtyard of the Haunted Prison for a Q&A with the owners of Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group hosted by Ben Armstrong, Owner of Netherworld Haunted House.

After dusk creeps over the grounds, MHC attendees will be given the chance to experience a full show at the Old Joliet Haunted Prison haunted attraction that will leave you wondering if those were the actors or nightmares that you met in the  darkness.

• Transportation from Donald E. Stephens Convention Center*
• Full haunt tour of The Old Joliet Haunted Prison with live actors
• Pizza, chips, cookies and 2 Drinks per person (beer/seltzer, soda and water)

DRIVING tickets will include:

Driving Ticket: $65 before May 25th, $80 after May 26th

*Buses will depart the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center at 7:45pm on Friday, June 9, 2023. Buses will provide transportation back to the convention center at 10:30pm
