Business – From Inspiration to Business Plan: What You Need to Know to Run A Haunted Attraction – Frank Mamana

The class is designed for anyone who wants to own or be in a management function of a haunted attraction. Topics will include code compliance with the ADA & fire codes, factors for creating a business plan and budget, factors in determining a location, marketing, advertising, merchandising, factors for determing potential attendance, a 5 year plan, actor recruitment, traing & retention, security options & issues, props, ambiance, workers’ compensation, insurance, the psychology of fear, interior locations, exterior locations, the use of modular haunts, determining times of operation, and developing a reverse schedule to determine deadlines. Plus anything else that is a factor in running an attraction.
Frank MaMana is an attorney who has worked in entertainment and merchandise projects for 20 years. Besides enjoying work as a haunt actor, he has consulted on 4 haunt attraction projects. Currently he is involved in a horror movie being filmed, and linking it to the creation of a haunted attraction of the same name, theme, and location as the movie. Frank was profiled last year in the Haunted Attraction Association’s Sceamzine. He will be assisted by Chris Kiessling, who has worked on the consulting projects with him.
